We’re Tearing Down a Home a Day
The Seattle Times dug into what you’ve no doubt witnessed as you’ve driven around town; there’s a lot of tearing down going on right now. A teardown a day: Bulldozing the way for bigger homes in Seattle, suburbs:
Seattle on average now sees one home teardown every day. More houses have been demolished and replaced in the past 18 months than in the four previous years combined, a review of property data shows.
“A teardown a day” sounds like a lot, but, at least for me, “365 teardowns in the last 12 months” doesn’t sound like nearly as many. But no doubt, neighborhoods are changing.
We’re generally pro-development hear at Urban Living, but the quality and design choices made by developers, especially townhouse developers, over the last few years leaves a lot to be desired.
How much of what we build this year will we be proud of years from now?
