Waterfront Mid-Century Modern
It’s that time of the year. Summer has been great and you want to hold onto that sand underfoot, water lapping at your toes feeling. Time to buy a mid-century modern on the beach (sorry Matt, this one’s in Burien too) and I’ve got the perfect one for you. This amazing design by architects Tucker & Shields, was built in 1957. Just south of the border at 12139 Shorewood Dr SW Burien, it lists for $1,349,000. For your money you get: 4 bedrooms, 1.75 bathrooms, 3 fireplaces, 2,940 square feet of house, a 18,673 square foot lot, 60 feet of waterfront and tideland rights. Looking at the pictures I would say that it has been kept in very good shape and updated over the years. It is up the hill from the waterfront so it won’t get flooded during high tides, but you would want to have somebody check out the land for you. Like many modern houses from this era, it has some odd quirks. The kitchen seems to be split into two, show kitchen in front and work kitchen behind. The master bedroom can be opened to the living room. The master bath is the only bathroom on the main level. Even with it’s quirks, or because of them, this house is a perfect example of the mid-century modern.
Open House: Wednesday Aug. 27, 11:00 – 1:00 pm
(I know all of you want to rip out the carpeting)
