Visit to the Press Condos
The Press Condos are a quasi conversion project on Capitol Hill where Press 1, a 4 year old building, used to be apartments and is now being converted to condos and Press 2 is a new building that was intended to be apartments but are having their kitchens upgraded and sold as condos. Overall there are 141 units and 14 have sold (as of last Sunday).
Let’s start with some misc facts:
- 30 day move in for some units
- Other units are move in after November 16th because the kitchens need to be renovated
- Leaving the unit ‘as-is’ with no kitchen and bath upgrade saves about $15,000
- Washer and dryers are included
- Undermount sink is standard
- Markie Nelson was the interior designer
- $2500 required for escrow. 7 day review period
- They had 100 people in on Saturday their opening day
- Storage unit is $10,000
- There’s a gym and a roof top deck
- No hardwood floor option
Overall I thought they had some decent floor plans at prices that seemed just a tad bit high considering it was originally built as an apartment building but they can charge more since you can move in almost right away. I also like how you can buy it un-upgraded so you can gut it and put in the finishes that suit your style
Now for some photos…
I don’t like how they have both horizontal and vertical rectangular tiles:
I don’t like the rounded granite edges or how the fridge sticks out from the cabinetry
Whomever designed the original Press apartments and condos should be sent back to design school:
Some bedrooms have big sliding doors. Personally I like the sliding doors but not these ones:
Now I have to say that I really didn’t like how they staged the model units. Especially this multicolored curtain hanging in the corner:
