Built in 1955, 2553 NE 106th Pl. is a three-bedroom, one-bathroom home in northeast Seattle’s leafy Wedgwood neighborhood. This home and 12 others nearby were designed by Arnold Wisbeck and built by Les Sauvage, and an article showcasing the property titled “Open Plan Marks Contemporary Home” ran in The Seattle Times on May 29, 1955. The architect-builder team worked together on another building in the neighborhood that same year—the Will House Pharmacy, now the Wedgwood Rite Aid building on 35th Avenue NE.
More recently, the owner and her architect spent seven years updating the one-story, 1,567-square-foot home while preserving the original designer’s vision. Noteworthy renovations include a new membrane roof, a new heating systems, the addition of a yoga room with heated floors and a mudroom between the garage and house.
Inside, walls of windows wrap the living areas around a redesigned yard, and vaulted ceilings are lined by wood beams.
