Thinking Outside the Box in Leschi
The architect for this house didn’t seem to like square rooms or houses. Built in 1990, this contemporary house at 3508 E Spruce St has the thrown together look of a tree house. The not designed look is well thought out and the main floor has a well laid out open floor plan, with a deck off the dining area. For $865,000, you get a 4 bedroom, 2.5 bathroom house, with 3,030 square feet (400 are unfinished). The kitchen has had a high end remodel, so none of that late 80’s look is left. The stairwell is my favorite bit; it gives you choices, not directions. The upper level is a remodeled master suite with a small deck. Though the master bathroom has more windows than I would want, the word opulent describes the rest of it. The weakest part of the design is the lower level, which has three large bedrooms but no whimsy. The exterior could do with some livening up (color) too. Well located in the heart of Leschi, this house would make a welcome change from those ten hour days working in a glass and steel box.
