Selling #504 @ the ‘Taj: Photos?

We’re still in the midst of transforming #504 at the Taj from bachelor pad to Crate and Barrel show room but with the end in sight it’s time to think ahead to what I’m going to do about photo.

I shot a few photos when I moved in. As you can see they’re nothing special. I asked around work at had a few recommendations for Vista Estate Imaging and I think I’m going to have them out next Monday or Tuesday. It’s $185 for 16 photos (a small price compared to what I’m paying to get matching towels, sheets and all that craziness!)

Any one have any recommendations on photos?

Emarald City Photo is really good… and they do movies as well, all for under $185.

My recommendation is make it look lived in…but not too cluttered…you know…like clean up your coffee table…just not *too* clean.

I’d put the toothbrush away only because the cord looks a bit sloppy. The shower curtain doesn’t really match also but you already stated that you were going to get some matching stuff.

Why not get what you want for your next place…towels, shower curtain, etc. and use that for staging?

Keep the blender out as it helps people realize that someone actually lives there. It’s a nice retro beehive blender anyways…I have the same one. The basic “wine bottle” staging is overused in my opinion. Don’t clutter your kitchen with too many appliances however.

Jo did a nice smackdown of whoever left all the trash all over the place but I’d be willing to bet that not everybody at the “Taj” reads your blog so maybe put a BIG ASS note by the dumpster that says “DON’T BE A SLOB”…after all…whoever is shown the unit will also see the outside of the building also I’d assume.

How many bikes do you still have in the L/R? I’d leave the nicest one. Whichever is the most exotic looking…no more than one though.

I did do a drive-by to check out your building a couple weeks ago or so….what?…did you think that it wouldn’t be on my list of places to see? Is that “tag” still on the front sign? You certainly don’t want whoever buys there to think that the neighborhood is full of “crips” even though tagging is pretty much in any urban neighborhood.

I’m torn about whether or not you should put something up on your walls…or at least above the couch. It does look a little “bach pad” like you state, but is it worth putting holes in the wall? Tough call on that one.

Final thing is clean and dust the place so damn well that whoever is looking at it thinks that you have OCD and are a total neat freak. That is a plus in my mind. Not to mention they won’t feel like they need to clean up everything like I had to do in my VULCAN rental which even had drywall “crumblies” on top of the fridge.

I recommend microfiber towels for cleaning over anything else. I use them myself here. Also….when you clean the brushed stainless stuff make sure you go with the grain and not in circles.

Just my 2c…well…more like a bucks worth.

Make sure you are there while they are shooting. Good price,the colors and cripsness are great, but I thought they missed some very obvious angles.So, now I can’t include the image for the Entry to the house… see the images:

Our last two listings we have used Vista Estate Imaging. Initially we were skeptical about the cheap price (our previous photographer was in the $400-$600 range) but the results were fairly comparable.

We had our Woodenville home shot by Vista Estate Imaging. The photographer was late and smelled of alcohol. Definitely not recommended
