Seattle weekly wrap-up: last hurrah before holiday slowdown
Our weekly updates on Seattle real estate are a labor of love! Often written over the weekend, in between kids’ activities, they take way longer to write than you’d ever guess. So as a regular reader, we’d love to see you support our end-of-year fundraiser for Mary’s Place. Mary’s Place is an organization that provides safe, inclusive shelter and services that support women, children, and families on their journey out of homelessness. A small amount goes a long way to make sure No Child Sleeps Outside. Urban Living will match all your donations. You can donate via Facebook, or if you’d prefer to donate directly, just forward me your receipt and we’ll match it. Last year we raised over $5,000!
But what happened last week with Seattle real estate? Last week we saw 131 new listings in Seattle, down slightly from the week before, but compared to years past, it was a remarkably strong week for new listings. It was also a strong week for homes going pending with buyers putting 133 under contract in Seattle last week. Rates in the low 7s are likely helping get buyers off the fence; we’ve seen an uptick in showing on our listings.
In terms of how the rest of the year will play out… This week will be the last week of the year that we see a reasonable number of new listings. After this week sellers will hold off until the New Year on the assumption not many buyers will be touring the weekends of December 23rd & 24th and the 30th & 31st – likely a good assumption! That said, buyers will likely put another 150-200 homes under contract before the end of the year.
Only one new listing caught my eye last week – a huge new modern in Shoreline!
