Pizza Time in a Laurelhurst AIA Featured Home
After a heated discussion about indoor pizza ovens (and combi ovens) this past weekend with some friends, imagine my surprise at finding a great Laurelhurst home at 4540 45th Ave NE that hit the market this week and has one!
So this home can actually boast that is has a chef’s kitchen letting you cook at 800°. For those of us without the space or kitchen to do this, I recommend the Uuni 3, a portable, outdoor pizza oven.
What else? It is 3,340 square feet with 5 bedrooms and 3.75 bathrooms. It is listed at $1.595m. And it is chockfull of Kerf.
The seller dropped us a line and this is what they love about the home:
When the major remodel happened in 2004, it was one of the first Seattle homes which used the unique “modern look” you see now in a lot of new homes in Seattle where cement boards or cedar planks create a rain screen which is not only cool looking, but also very sustainable (all local) method. These green building methods continue inside: Richlite (paper based and sustainable!) was not only used for kitchen countertop, but also for vanities and other architectural features such as stair case separators and bamboo flooring!
The reverse floor layout brings not only amazing light and views to the living area, it also allows for a far more efficient use of space as you don’t lose as much on hall ways. It allowed us to put 5 bedrooms on 3300 square feet.
My wife is a chef… These days many houses are marketed as “chef’s kitchen” but that’s mostly marketing while in this case it’s true! The open hearth oven not only allows for pizza preparation at 800 deg, but any meat or vegetable. There is also a Miele steamer for fish and Asian foods, much healthier than a microwave, but easier to use than a pressure cooker!
We look forward to a reader buying this and inviting us to their pizza housewarming party.
