New Eastlake Townhouse With Location Upside/Downside
If you’ve taken the road that snakes underneath Interstate 5 and connects Capitol Hill and Eastlake, you’ve passed the lot where a recently-completed townhouse is now up for sale. The location, 2015 Boylston Ave E., puts you in the middle of two great neighborhoods, offers great views* of Lake Union and gives you tremendous access to I-5. The downside? I-5 is in your backyard.
In the past year, I’ve taken Lakeview Boulevard (which transitions to Boylston Ave E.) many times and have watched the townhouse and its siblings grow up, replacing the single-family home that had occupied the lot for years.
The townhouse, by developer Ashworth Homes, features three bedrooms and two and a half baths across three floors and 1,804 square feet. Per the listing, there are “open & light filled living spaces, pro kitchen w/ SS appliances, quartz counter tops, large island & quality finishes.” List price: $724,950.
I haven’t visited this home but I’ve toured other new townhouses on Boylston Ave E. that back up to I-5. For the most part, highway noise is not a problem if you keep the windows closed. It’s not a terrible tradeoff if you value easy access to I-5. The southbound on-ramp is no more than a few hundred feet away.
Above, I put an asterisk next to great views because based on the photos it appears the “sweeping views” are only available when you’re on the deck. (But what a great deck it is at nearly 500 square feet.) The new townhouses directly to the west are situated in such a way as to block the water and mountain views from the three main floors. That would bug me as the view from the main living area would be of my neighbors.
But check it out for yourself and let us know what you think…
