Well-kept midcentury modern looks southeast from Magnolia
2905 25th Ave W was built in 1960, and has all the trappings of a local midcentury modern home, like the striking wall of windows, sloping wood ceiling, and a greatroom with a fireplace divider. It’s had some updates, but none really jar you out of the aesthetic—the kitchen’s been opened up, for example, but with handsome wood cabinets and plenty of space to breathe.
It’d be a shame if anything but a light touch approached this playful floorplan. A split gable between the greatroom and the rest of the house leaves clever pockets of skylights. A lower-level entry with an open staircase brings some extra light to the daylight basement. As it probably was originally, low-maintenance landscaping adds stone patios and pathways winding up the hill.
While many upscale Magnolia homes boast a southwest view, this one hits the southeast—it’s just as big, but gets pockets of downtown Seattle and the Space Needle along with the water.
