Historic Queen Anne High loft with Space Needle views
Own a piece of Seattle history at the Queen Anne High School Condominiums, part of Seattle Public Schools from 1909 to 1981. 201 Galer St. #301 is a bright, airy south-facing condo with oversized windows that maximize the city, bay and mountain views.
Fourteen-foot ceilings define the residence, while original hardwoods gleam underfoot. Stairs inside the front door lead to the lofted second bedroom with space for a home office or reading nook. Past a full bathroom, the home opens into the kitchen and great room. The kitchen features stainless appliances, white cabinets and a farm sink–plus an eat-in bar with room to accommodate two or more. Off the kitchen, the primary bedroom features a walk-in closet. The sun-filled living room boasts city- and water-views, including the Space Needle.
Entertain guests on the building’s shared and spacious rooftop deck, complete with grills, a firepit and heaters.
Built atop Queen Anne Hill, the school underwent additions in 1929 and 1955. It eventually closed due to decreasing enrollment in 1981. It has since been added to the National Register of Historic Places and is an official City of Seattle landmark. Through adaptive reuse, the building became a 137-unit apartment building in 1986. More recently, the building was renovated in 2006 and converted into condos.
