Going on vacation + thoughts on Fini?

This week is likely the worst week for me to take a vacation all year but it was booked a while ago. So you likely won’t see any posts here until the middle of next week. If you any good condo news or gossip leave a comment here or Fini. Does anyone have any thoughts on that development or the developer (I believe it’s Murray Franklyn of Pine + Belmont fame)? I know relatively little about it other than at least one reader might have comments about the interior designer and that it will have killer views in all directions:

Also, what do you think the possibility of someone eventually building directly across form the south east corner of the Fini building? I would hate to pay top dollar for a view and then see it disappear in someone’s window.

Heres another opportunity to protest the kind of spirit-deflating architecture represented by the current Weber + Thompson plans for its mixed-use condo development Belmont + Pine.

The nonprofit organization, Capitol Hill Housing (CHH) , the mission of which is to meet the need for affordable housing and preserve neighborhood character in Seattle, hosts its annual meeting and panel discussion:

Northwest Film Forum
1515 Twelfth Avenue
Capitol Hill

The event, free and open to the public, will mix a little organizational business and a panel discussion about development and change for Capitol Hill.

The business items will be brief, but important. CHH elects two community members to its Board, provides a summary of the organization s activities for the year, and ratifies the selection of its independent auditor. People who are residents or property owners in Capitol Hill are eligible to vote.

The panel discussion, Sustaining a Vibrant and Diverse Neighborhood, will feature representatives of some current developments on Broadway, Pike-Pine, and 15th Avenue East. These projects are place makers for Capitol Hills future and include examples of new construction and preservation. Key points to be raised:

How does the market see Capitol Hill?
How do these new projects connect with Capitol Hills character?

The panel will be hosted by Channel 21 anchor and Capitol Hill resident, C.R. Douglas. He will also moderate a question and answer segment from the audience.
