oh come on, Matt. West Capitol Hill residents are going to lose their views? This site is 2 blocks from the 47 story Westin Hotel. It’s 4 blocks from the 56 story 2 Union Square. Basically next to the 33 story Cosmopolitan. I don’t follow you on this one. West Capitol Hill views have always been of downtown skyscrapers and this will be just one more added in.

This will be sure to block any remaining views down Denny Way that the Mirabella project hasn’t already blocked. Right now you can still see the top of the space needle, though the views of Elliot Bay and the Olympics are gone. But the Mirabella is under 20 stories tall.

Dear Bitter, As recently as 1999 there were great views from Capitol Hill. Views have been and continually are eroded by each new tall building. Bit by bit, “….just one more added in.”, has taken out almost all the views of Puget Sound, Mountains, distant Islands, etc.” Thus the claim that the views of Seattle Skyscrapers has “always” been the case is rather historically short sighted. Most of the current Seattle skyline is less than 25 years old. There is still some view left but a forrest of 400 foot buildings will soon eleminate great views from many parts of the city including the hills.

That is incorrect. The Greyhound garage is on Denny. The Greyhound bus station is not on Denny and that is what will be replaced with this hotel.

Apparently not everyone loves these mannequins. I received an email from the listing agent the other day saying the female mannequin had been abused. Someone had dismantled her and strewn her around. How sad. To violently attack a poor helpless mannequin one must have some serious mental problems.

Hopefully the manniquin is been re-assembled and is feeling better. :-)

I think they should have put the guy in the shower with the curtain closed—then when a prospective buyer pulled back the curtain: “YIPES!” And the girl should be hiding in the closet—’cause potential buyers are always nosey and open all the closets. The place would have sold in a second—especially to person looking for digs in Fremont!

Although the building replacing the greyhound station won’t block any west cap hill views, the 41 story Insignia certainly will. Check page 64 of this months seattle metropolitan mag to get an idea of the location

I was checking out a very cool, staged, 1896 Victorian mansion in West Seattle last week (#27177648), at dusk, and nearly crapped myself when I walked in to the “parlour” and there was one of those 7 foot tall carved wooden figures, this particular one being of a hunched over butler holding a tray of drinks no less. I hope the mannequin fad is short-lived, it certainly doesn’t sell real estate:)
