Before and after full bathroom remodel
Many of our clients consider bathroom remodels, so when a client recently completed one we thought it’d be great to share their experience of what a remodel of a typical full bathroom in Seattle looks like. The home was built in 1902 and you can see that the bathroom was very much in need of a remodel that included replacing the window and replacing damage from a leaky toilet (fix loose toilets promptly!)
- Cost: $25,000
- $2,200+tax of that was fixing water damage caused by the old toilet
- $2,400+tax of that was for the flooring “mistake”
- Lead time: 3 weeks
- Completion time: 3 weeks
Wins:
- Heated tile floors
- Recessed medicine cabinet: “My bathroom is on the smaller side. It was surprising how much larger the cabinet recessing made it feel.”
- Powered medicine cabinet: “It’s nice to get all the electric toothbrushes (and their chargers and wires) inside the cabinet, reducing clutter. “
Mistakes:
- Choosing the floor tile online: “I didn’t get to see the tile in person until it was already installed… and it didn’t look good. So, the floor had to be redone. Ouch.”
- Not inspecting vanity prior to installation: “I was away, so I didn’t get to fully see the vanity until it was already installed. That’s when I noticed when the soft-close drawers that the vendor detailed about the vanity where not actually soft-close – it was a mistake in the product description.”
