About Matt

I own and manage Urban Living, a boutique Seattle and Bellevue real estate brokerage. I love lofts, floating homes, new construction, and mid-century moderns, but I will help you buy or sell just about anything!

I help about 40 clients annually, putting me in the top 75 agents in Seattle by sales volume.

Before becoming a real estate agent I sold a food-tech startup, ran marketing for Redfin, and worked as a program manager at Microsoft. I hold a Bachelor of Mathematics with a major in Computer Science from the University of Waterloo, so I’m always happy to geek out on pricing spreadsheets.

I live in a floating home in Eastlake at Mallard Cove with my wife and two kids. Before that, I lived in the Central District for a year and on Capitol Hill for eight years at Trace Lofts and the Meritage.

When not helping people buy or sell, I manage my rental houses and when not doing that I enjoy skiing, boating, hockey, and whiskey cocktails.

Recent Client Reviews

I'm not sure I'd be in the house I'm in now -- or any house really -- if not for Matt's steady guidance and partnership throughout the home shopping, mortgage and signing processes.

As a first-time homebuyer, I knew I wanted a lot of hand-holding and reassurance along the way, from the first step to the last. I had conversations with a couple of agents, but no one felt right. I just wasn't confident that I would get what I wanted and needed, and had to really consider what sort of compromises I would have to make regarding my list of agent requirements.

Fortunately during my online searches I came across Matt's blog, dedicated to all things loft: urbnlvn.com. Immediately after signing up for the newsletter Matt reached out personally with a very welcoming note that gave me confidence right away that he was the agent for me. We exchanged a couple of detailed emails including a short list of properties I found interesting. From there, it was just a dream: Matt took the care to evaluate each of the properties and prepared a compilation of details for my review. He even plotted a course for us to meet and look at all the homes I selected. In short, he attended to all the details to ensure a flawless experience out of the gate. Not only did I not have to compromise on my ideal list of agent requirements, I got something even better: a friend whom I trusted to have my best interests top of mind.

At no time was I made to feel awkward or ridiculous. All my questions were answered swiftly, respectfully, and honestly. Matt was not driven to push a higher-priced home on me, nor did he pressure me in any other way. I was able to take my time, consider my options, and explore alternatives.

Ultimately I chose a new-construction townhouse in Beacon Hill. My 1st home. And I have Matt to thank.

He was great with me. Responsive, thoughtful, and he managed my quirks well...

He also was great at referring me to other professionals (contractors, lenders, inspectors, etc.) who were really helpful as I navigated this purchase.

We have been looking for a few weeks and got beat out on a few properties we had put offers in. When Matt came in to show us this condo, we quickly wrote an offer and he was very quick to coordinate with the sellers agent and got our offer accepted the next day.

Owners flip new Seattle condos for big profit before they even open

"Matt Goyer, a local real-estate broker and blogger, combed through some recent sales at the new Insignia high-rises in the Denny Triangle. He found several brand-new condos that their owners reserved during construction over the last couple of years and just sold again before ever living in them."
