Milton Stricker Designed House in Seward Park

Milton Stricker was heavily influenced by Frank Lloyd Wright, whom he served an apprenticeship with.  This house at 7102 55th Ave S was built in 1964, 2 years after he opened his own office in Seattle.   As this is the NW, he brought more light into the house by lifting the roof over the living room and having a center atrium for the rooms to look out on.  The back patio is partly covered by the roof to allow use on those wet days we tend to have.  With 5 bedrooms, 3.75 bathrooms, and 2,320 sq ft, this house lists for $975,000.  It’s on a 12,000 sq ft lot, two lots above the lake, and has water views from the roof  that could be taken advantage of.  3 bedrooms are on the main floor and the other 2 are in the lower level.  Towards the end of his career, Stricker wrote a book called Design Through Abstraction: The Wright Source to Art and Architecture, in which he writes about his insights into the process of artistic abstraction as the source and generator of Organic Architecture (yeah, that was from the website).  It’s available to read on the MiltonStricker website.
