Lake Union Float Home by Design Northwest
Design Northwest sent over photos of a project they recently completed, a brand spanking new float home on Lake Union. Looks pretty sweet.
We’ve got more photos, and the full details here, or here’s the quick overview:
The float was constructed in Vancouver, BC, and all structural connections had to be located beforehand. The float was moved down by Gasworks Park where the home construction was completed. The homeowners are a retired Seattle couple that wanted to downsize. They went from a 4,000 + square foot home to less than 2,000 square feet. Both are avid boaters and welcomed the idea of being right next to the water. At first they wanted to build a craftsman style boat house but got excited when introduced to the idea of creating a float home that picked up on the industrial/wharf building aesthetic. The husband is a general contractor -he and his son built the project.
Want to build your own floating home? Ward’s Cove on Eastlake has 4 “lots” on the MLS from $630k to $885k.
