There are several other work-loft locations out there. And a large number of small condo buildings have created retail space on the bottom floors to meet design and zoning requirements. These are often vacant for a long period of time because demand is low for them. City planners don’t always care if there is a market for something they mandate.

Stadium Lofts will be coming up and will have some great work-loft options

Westlake 2200 had some along the 9th and Lenora streets. But those are long gone.

Up north, Bagley Lofts had some great work-lofts in the center of Wallingford. They occasionally come on the market.

I’m sure there are others, I just can’t think of them now.

Hi Heather,

I’m using a Cutline 3 Column Right WordPress Theme slightly modified with a banner image taken by my friend. The theme I’m using has been downloaded by about 8000 people. Looks like you’re using a modified 3 Column Cutline Split downloaded by about 50,000 people. So I’m surely not the only one who has a similar looking site to yours!

Truth be told I haven’t checked out your site in a long time. I did check out Ben and Wendy’s blog to ensure I wasn’t too similar to them as I view them as my main “competition.”

I wish I could have had a graphic designer do a custom theme and then hire a web developer to do a custom theme implementation but this website is a hobby not a business and so I didn’t bother investing the money.

Given the similarities of our domain names I see why you may be concerned but I don’t think anyone will mistake my ranting for a real estate brokerage. Plus, given how hard my domain name is to spell you really have to know how to get here.

I don’t know either Matt or Heather, but re the layouts, 3-column blogs are rather common. Matt’s main content is to the left. Heather’s is in the middle, resembling James Stroupe’s blog (I don’t know him, either) a lot more than Matt’s, who’s blog layout is more like Ben’s (nope, don’t know him, either).

Of course, with three columns, there are only so many choices for where to put the primary content.

I don’t get it – are we playing ‘Where’s Waldo’?Other than similarity in name, there is no appreciable resemblance whatsoever between the two websites. And to be blunt, there is not much to steal from a site that is essentially a static infomercial. Sorry Heather, looks like you got voted off the island :) .

Hey Matt, just for the record I actually personally didn’t post that entry above. I’ve been retired from real estate for that past year and half, my business was given over to my partner who runs the website. Not that it matters at this late point in time but I was looking for something else and this post came up in Google. Given that it’s a variation on a WordPress theme, I’m sure there are many sites out there with similar structures. In the beginning of 2008 when these posts were made I wasn’t even in the business….

I do think your site has a lot of good information on it and when my site was really active years ago it had a completely different perspective.

I think you need to go back to the drawing board and rethink what an artists live/work needs are, these are just pricey condos. Please give me a break and other artists by listing these as you are. Thanks to developers such as this and Vulcan artists are being pushed out of desirable locations and all the while Seattle portrays itself as artist friendly to the rest of the nation.

I agree. I am looking for a live/work space where I can continue my ceramics and castings (requires a kiln for firing) and I am having very little success. Rent is my only option and to afford living space and separate art space will just not work for me.

If ANYONE out there knows of places like this that would/could accommodate please let me know!

Hiawatha Lofts and the Tashiro Kaplan building are both on wait lists, but we will be opening another building in the Mt. Baker area of Seattle in the next few years.
