Fifth and Columbia Tower

The Seattle Times today had some renderings of the proposed Fifth and Columbia tower, A new angle on Seattle’s skyline:

At 660 feet, Daniels Development Co.’s Fifth and Columbia Tower would be the city’s fifth-tallest building, and the tallest constructed since 1990. But its height would be less distinctive than its angular design.

I like it!

They also had a rendering of the skyline:

I think that it is an awesome-looking building, but I don’t know how it is going to stay standing. Some of the floors have two times as much square footage as the base floor. Overall, it is impressive how this skysraper can share a block with the Rainier Club and the sanctuary.

Rainier Club never got morning light anyway. it’s downhill from a several story church annex, and an alley. Really, all the important windows on the Rainier club face west.

This is a really nice looking building. They’re going to take away the parking lot from the Rainier Club – which I think means use that small area as the entrance to the underground section of this building (Rainier Club members will be allowed to park in the new building for free, I think).

I like it. Unique, stands out, has some great features. Nice addition to Seattle.
