Delays at 5th and Madison and Domaine

By October 19, 2007

5th & Madison

A reader writes in with reports on delays at 5th and Madison:

Move-in delays at 5th & Mad. What a surprise! But, Williams Marketing is now saying, “We will give you, the buyers, daily updates via emails.” (emphasis added). Let’s see if they live up to that promise. But I bet your site has something to do with that kind of proactive communication (or at least the promise of proactive communication).

And note the reason for the delays: A completely unrelated elevator inspection issue over at Children’s Hospital. Huh? My recollection is that you also experienced delays due to the unrelated unavailability of an elevator inspector. I wonder if that’s really the case or if the developers use it as a ruse to avoid any real accountability for the considerable inconvenience — and financial expense — they now force their early purchasers to incur.

Are you a bad developer or sales company and are curious what a good email to customers looks like? He is what they sent out:

Dear [Name of Buyer Deleted],

We have just been informed by the builder, Turner Construction, that the elevator inspection at 5th and Madison has been cancelled due to an issue with a failed elevator cable at Children’s Hospital. Inspectors who would have been available to perform the final elevator inspection at 5th and Madison have been pulled off to inspect the failed elevator at Children’s and similar elevators statewide, which is not like the elevators at 5th and Madison or even made by the same company. Nevertheless, the temporary unavailability of elevator inspectors will result in a delay in our initial closings. At the moment the new elevator inspection is scheduled for Monday, October 22, but that is not guaranteed. We anticipate that once the final inspections occur as well as the issuance of Title Reports that the first closings will occur beginning Tuesday, October 30th.

The sales team at 5th and Madison will give you, the buyers, daily updates via email. If you prefer another method of communication please let us know. Olga and Steve at the sales presentation center are available to answer questions at 206.624.7640 or via email
[email protected] or [email protected]

We are very sorry for any inconvenience this may cause you and we assure you we are doing everything within our power to communicate to you what we know the minute we have the information.

Sincerely,
5th and Madison LLC

And another about delays at Domaine:

Well, I put a deposit on a condo in the Domaine Complex but at the front facing Lake Union – there have been countless delays and no word from the sales team(s). I have to keep chasing them as I can see it is not near completion – it is such a pain…..
