Condo tour?

Did anyone go on this weekend’s condo tour? It looked like a success for Trace as several hundred people toured the building (if you were there on Saturday sorry about the mess!) and several units were purchased.

I own and manage Urban Living, a boutique Seattle and Bellevue real estate brokerage. I love lofts, floating homes, new construction, and mid-century moderns, but I will help you buy or sell just about anything!

we had about 200 people through our building and it was very positive. one note – they didn’t have an ‘accessible’ shuttle on sunday, but they did on saturday. as if being wheelchair-bound wasn’t hard enough in this hilly city with a lot of crappy sidewalks, he was trying to shuttle right about when the football game got out and he had to take the bus instead. that was pretty lame. also noticed a lot of familieis just wanting that gift card to applebees. one family of five we saw had a punch card for their baby in a carriage!

I attended but only made to 5th and Madison, Olive 8, 1521, and the Ava design preview. I also noticed a lot of people only interested in the gift card… walked in, got it stamped, left. I actually found it pretty difficult to spend the time and talk with agents and still make it to 6 venues. I gave up after 4.

I don’t know where it was good for but it was worth $50. They just advertised it as a $50 restaurant gift certificate for visiting 6 venues, plus you get entered into a couple larger raffle prizes.

I would just find it funny if it were for Applebees since there aren’t any downtown!

it was applebees, gold-something deli, and one other place. i heard they were handing them out on saturday after you got 6 stamps and turned in your address, email, and phone number. but on sunday they switched it to mailing the gift card. which was funny. some people were disappointed.

i also heard of one guy who was selling his condo across the street from one of the tour buildings handing out flyers on the street in front as people got off the shuttle. nice.

apparently miller, realogics, and williams spent some good coin on the shuttles and advertising…

applebees? doesn’t it strike you as odd that they give a gift certificate for a place that isn’t even in the city? where is the closest one? lynnwood or bellevue or kent or some place like that?

Many people were more interested in going to a building where you could actually see the units rather than just a sales center. Bellagio had a few hundred as did 5th and Madison. Not a bad way to advertise though.

I spent the entire day Saturday condo shopping/snooping. First went to several MLS listings with my agent. Then did the condo tour — primarily for kicks and to check out a few places I hadn’t seen yet. I’d already been to many of the spots on the map.

Drove myself and stopped by the following:
– Bellagio. Gorgeous. Especially the $1 million-plus model unit.
– Trace Lofts. I’ve been reading Urban Living for quite some time, so I know you bought here, Matt. But I expected something else. My definition of a loft requires an elevated sleeping area.
– Escada showroom. Purely for the “ooh and ah” factor. Could never afford one of these.
– 1521 showroom – see above
– Trio. The sales folks were too busy.
– The Parc. Tour of a model home.

Frankly, it’s unlikely I’ll buy at any of the new places or even the conversions. I rent now and know I can get more for my $ buying “used.”

Didn’t get my free restaurant gift certificate because they were out, but I had the same thought regarding Applebees. I live — and eat — in downtown.

Oh, yeah. I also stopped by Equinox. Friendly folks there. They were the only place that asked me to fill out the registration card.

Brix has a very impressive sales center as well, boasting impressive floorplans and kick a** models. The building will be sweet when it’s all done. And I was suprised that the prices are decent…from about 320K all the way up to 750k for the largest townhome. Equinox was awesome, 5th and Madison was very nice, Olive 8 (although I could never afford it,) was impressive too. Great times!

Have you snooped SLU at all? We bought there and found it to be a nice, middle ground– not too upscale and lots of choices of floor plans.

Yeah, I went to their showroom about a year or so ago. But my comfort zone is $300K max and I don’t want a shoebox. I pay $1,200 a month inc. parking for a 1-bedroom in Belltown, for the sake of comparison.
