Help With Minor Condo Remodeling

An Urban Living reader is looking at doing some light remodeling and was wondering if we could help out with suggestions:

I’m considering the following for my condo:
-Replacing the carpet with heated flooring
-Redesigning the closet space
-Installing lighting (my bedroom has no lighting installed – just a switch that activates an outlet)

Do you guys know any individuals/companies that specialize in the above at reasonable prices?

I used these guys for closet systems (http://www.thecustomclosetcompany.com/bedroom.asp); the money I spent on closets and recessed lighting (no recommendation there, sorry) was the best money I have spent on my place. I know you didn’t ask, but someone might find use for a tile recommendation (Victor & Peter | 425.387.5545); they’re very thorough and professional for tile and countertops. Highly recommended.

For closet systems, I have used http://www.organizedspaces.com/ twice now and had great success with them. I found their prices to be very reasonable and they did a great job.

for closet systems i’d recommend ELFA at the container store in bellevue

they’re having a 30% off sale now

Costco is a California Closets retailer, they do free in home estimates, worth at least getting a quote as they do really nice work (although with a bit of a markup)

Second on the ELFA, I just recently redid my closet and it turned out amazing. As an added bonus the self-installing is incredibly simple if you’re even the slightest bit handy. They do all the cutting for you so I was able do the whole install by myself in 30 minutes with just a hammer and a power drill.

I used these guys to install recessed lighting in my condo http://www.yelp.com/biz/laz-electric-llc-seattle
They did an pretty good job and gave me a significantly lower quote than another place. Unfortunately, they didn’t use a tarp on my hardwood floor while working, so um, you might wanna ask.
