Views Are Not Always Forever In Seattle

Just listed – a west facing top floor condo at Veer Lofts.  Great location, layout, and nice territorial views across the surrounding rooftops.  We’ll get back to that.  Unit 615 at 401 9th Ave N is a 1,006 square foot loft that has 1 bedroom, 1 den, and 1.5 bathrooms.  With 18 foot ceilings, concrete floor, and 2 balconies to make life just a little bit nicer.  It’s a bit pricey at $524,950 ($522 a square foot) considering it sold in 2012 for $427,000.  HOA dues are $596/month, which seem high for a building built in 2008 and that has few amenities.  It is an easy commute walk to Amazon and other employers, so I can understand the demand for this kind of condo.

But wait.  There will be an 8 story building going up just across the alley to the west.  And if that isn’t enough to diminish your view, light, enthusiasm; a 23 story is in the planning stages just to the west of the 8 story building.  How do you find out this information?  Seattle’s Department of Planning and Development (DPD) has a website with some great tools to keep you up to date.  From their interactive map to their Land Use Information Bulletin, they have the info you need before you buy in Seattle.
