E. Cobb Designed Modern In Madrona
Officially, this 1951 Madrona home was renovated in 2005, and what a renovation it was! Designing modern homes that are able to balance form and function is not easy (successes are few). Either implementation fails to reflect a great design, or it wasn’t a good design in the beginning. This house at 915 38th Ave is a win.
Designed by E Cobb Architects, this 3 bedroom, 1.75 bathrooms, with 2,710 square feet is listing for $1,250,000. For the money, 1.75 bathrooms is kind of stingy. The only weakness I find in the design relates to saving the original 1 car garage/basement walls. They probably saved money in the short term, but they ended up with a narrow garage door which doesn’t blend into the design.
