Meeting Tonight About 160 to 300 ft Towers Coming to SLU

Got an email just now on the following:

Just an FYI that the draft EIS alternatives have come out and 160 ft to 300 ft towers have been proposed between Lake Union and Mercer.

Please get the word out to join LUOA (Lake Union Opportunity Alliance) in fighting this.

LUOA is having a public meeting tonight (Jan 5th at 6:30PM) at Unity Church to discuss all the details.

This is happening quite quickly. I am happy to send you more information.

Please see the attachment to get an idea of just one of the alternatives.

Yes let's be sure to reflexively oppose this. Density and a vertical city must be prevented at all cost. Instead let's line the streets of South Lake Union with solid 100 foot walls and cover the entire block like the Mirabella. That's a super awesome idea!

As long as there are smart and graceful plans for real street-level retail, cultural and recreational options, I am also pro density. Unfortunately, some of these recent proposals and buildings in the area either provide no street-level life or they call a narrow plaza/alley between buildings with no real life in it “public space” — see UW buildings between Republican and 8th.

It is just so ironic that the NIMBYS in LUOA live in the ugliest breadloaf building in Seattle, aka Mirabella. LUOA = Lake Union Opposition to Altitude.

Not surprised. Just look at a map of Seattle and where most of the buildings with Lake Union Views were built. In the back row.

Think who's gonna lose their Lake Union views.

Damn…Those developers sure are good, aren't they? Wait…isn't Paul Allen the owner of 90% of that land north of Mercer?

And just to think, they were originally after 160'.
