Eastside weekly wrap-up: buyers still active as sellers hit spring break early
Spring break for schools are right around the corner and sellers decided they take this week off as well! Only 127 homes hit the market across the Eastside this week, snapping a five week run of more listings than pending sales each week. Despite that, the total active listings increased to 571 from 560 the week prior. Buyers have remained very steady the last 5-6 weeks with about 130 pending sales each week. 85% of the active listings have been on the market for more than a week so if you’re patient, you can possibly avoid competing with other buyers.
What’s coming next week? Expect it to be slow for both buyers and sellers. Bellevue School District is on spring break so that will pull attention away from real estate for buyers. Sellers will likely be hustling on their last couple of listing prep activities to be ready to go on market the week after. Normally this is a big week for listings! Interest rates hit two-month lows last week and are back up to 6.34%. This will still be a welcome number for the buyers who aren’t on spring break.
If you were scanning for interesting listings this week, Kirkland was the place to be. We love these two townhomes, one is a standalone home located East of Market by Thomas Jane and this townhome from BDR Fine Homes located West of Market, both completed this year. Also in Kirkland, this remodeled contemporary home in Juanita Beach is my favorite of the week! On Mercer Island, we love this mid-century modern that got multiple offers after two days on the market and this other mid-century that was designed by Benjamin F MacAdoo Jr in 1954.
