Seattle weekly wrap-up: some cool places hit the market last week!
It was a short week, but listing agents were busy putting 399 new listings on the market in Seattle, making it the third busiest week of the year for new listings. On the other hand, buyers only put 215 homes under contract in Seattle. Though that isn’t surprising, the long weekend was slow for new listings, so there were fewer homes to offer on (it’ll be very telling how many go under contract this coming week!). As for rates, they ended the week relatively high at 5.44% for a 30-year fixed. A lender we chatted with earlier in the week was predicting we’d see 6.5% by fall…
Lots of good new listings! This Magnolia midcentury will go on my list of favorite listings of 2022. Wow! Midcentury fans also shouldn’t miss this Al Bumgardner in Burien. Here’s a simpler midcentury on the Eastside and a renovated one in Laurelhurst. Looking for a newer home – we love this Capitol Hill contemporary (except no backyard anymore, hello townhomes!), and here’s a new construction opportunity in Madrona.
Want to join us on the water? Don’t miss this Japanese-influenced Eastlake floating home with tiny on-shore office, perfect for work from home. And loft fans – don’t miss this one in Wallingford at the Bagley Lofts, or these modern live/work ones at the Klee and the Gallery.
Looking to escape Seattle and need an island compound? Check out this 29-acre private island, only $10m. Or more modest options, that are both well established Airbnbs – a Skykomish a-frame and a Scandinavian inspired one on the Cascade River Road. But if you want an Airbnb, don’t miss the Betty Macdonald Farm on Vashon.
