Custom Built Masterpiece by BUILD
1027 NE 72nd St (also known as “Case Study House 2014“) is another great custom built home by BUILD (here’s the last one we featured).
Built in 2014, the Roosevelt home is an example of just how great of a house you can build on a standard sized 5,000 square foot lot – the home and backyard studio are a combined 3,205 square feet with 5 five bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms plus there is a two car garage.

Case Study House is the manifestation of a tried and true design process we at BUILD have been refining continuously for 15 years. Sitting on a standard-sized residential lot located in a booming neighborhood in northeast Seattle, the home is designed to function as a comfortable, modern, city residence for an active family of four. The Case Study House 2014 shares a unique peek into an example of what we architects design when designing for ourselves.
We like the flipped floor plan with the living space on the top floor and of course love that it has a wall of windows that opens to a huge outdoor deck. I also really like the kitchen island that is just a simple island without a sink or cooktop. (I hate sinks and cooktops on islands.) Plus there’s concrete floors on the lower level. Those garage floors must be the cleanest garage floors we’ve seen.
