How-to Dig Up Plans?

I’m embarrassed that I don’t know the answer to this reader question:

A developer is breaking ground (finally) on a vacant lot and tearing down an existing house for what I can find is going to be townhouses. 422 Malden Ave. E is the address, I was curious to know how to get a hold of plans for the project, if that is even possible. I thought you might have some insight?

You can go down to the DPD and ask them to print it from microfiche. It will cost you a fair bit. You can get some details online (but not plans) here:

If you want the actual plans follow the path the user above mentioned. If you want to know the basics go to: http://web1.seattle.gov/dpd/maps/ and fill out the query to find the project that interests you.

You can go to DPD – it does not cost a fair bit…its .10 per page. Just take the main prints. They’ll print them in a matter of minutes for you. Hit up the ~37th floor of KeyTower.

i’ve gone down to dpd a few times recently and have had just so much fun looking at the microfilm looking at some permitting, and they have quite the library to review. they’re super friendly and helpful up there, and pretty sure it’s the 20th floor at the seattle municipal building.

…not sure what people are saying about cost to print what u want. unfortunately i was, ironically, unable to find what i was looking for. regardless, dpd, kind of a cool visit. they all like what they what they do so it’s much better than going to the dmv. just don’t go during lunchtime unless you have a kindle.
